The United States Hapkihae was founded in 1986 by Shelton R. Moreland .  
Grandmaster Moreland is a direct disciple of Doju Nim, Myong, Jae Nam and recieved the appointment of United States IHF President and representative of the International Hapkido Federation.
Chong Jae Nim Moreland has practiced and studied the Korean martial arts since 1966, and still trains everyday to further develop the work of his Great teacher.  Mr. Moreland has made contributions to the IHF textbook, Hapki Moo Yea Do and the Hapki text book for higher level dan holders in 1986.
Chong Jae Nim Moreland is also qualified to teach the art of Hwal bop and Hwal ki do ( joint reformation ).

Grandmaster Moreland believes that, to learn without roots is to learn without truth it self. Believing as he does, he continues to research the original martial arts for both historical and technical references.
